“Professional care” of cetaceans to be “reviewed” at the Vancouver Aquarium

A UBC marine biologist will lead a team to review “the professional care” of cetaceans at the Vancouver Aquarium. The review was initiated by Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA), a group which promotes captivity of animals as entertainment.

The review’s results seem predetermined as CAZA listed as one of its areas of interest:”how [aquariums] contribute to public engagement, research and conservation efforts”. A spokesperson from CAZA was also quoted as saying that the review aims to ” actually validate certain assumptions.”
